The American Bicycle Polo Association and the Bicycle Polo Association of America, having teamed up to bring the U.S. its first International Bicycle Polo Championship in 2004, have combined their domestic administrative efforts in hopes of better promoting the growth of the sport. The united group, incorporated in Washington State, will retain the ABPA name (but may jokingly be referred to as the American Bicycle Polo Association of America). The new ABPA is a 501(c)(3) organization under the U.S. tax code, so it is able to accept tax-deductible donations from supporters of the sport.
